Away in the Woods

Like today I am now

Meeting new plants that sit

where I trod on the ground

Meeting new bushes and trails and bears

Firefly Dances that tangle my hairs

.

Away so far that I can’t see my house

Or my county, my country, the creek running down

that once held toy boats to float over pebbles

I am so far that machines look like ant hills

.

A piece of Home with me

A piece of Home with me

The pollen of flowers grown

.

A piece of Home with me

A piece of Home with me

Love sewn in soil and soul

.

For way out here

beyond the reach of man

My mother’s hand travels to my heart

Leaving a cloud of yellow pixie dust

And if I think Happy Thoughts

Maybe I’ll fly
