Alone I lie in my bed

to release the tension from my head

I lay and watch the clouds go by

way up high in my eyelid sky

Sugar poured from open wounds

Bones that twist like licorice sticks

I fall until I am consumed

Light the candles, cut the wicks

Claws that lash and teeth that gnash

Clenching tight, I’m biting down

On sour pits of fruit long rotted

Skin that shrivels on the ground

You think you’re safe, but then you’re lost

the key that was diamond just locks the door

To be free is a great cost

You take the loot but then want more

You rip the vines in great distress

No one escapes the Black Forest
